6 wonderful quotes to share with children

Don't be fooled by the team at Penyo Pal,

we aren't really adults at all,

We're just big kids who are really tall,

We reminisce of when we were small,

When we began to read, to wonder,  and to dream

so we decided here at the Penyo Pal team,

to share our favourite words that carried us through,

and we want to share them with your kids, and with you.

(Poem attempted by Jane Wu, Chief Happiness Officer)

We draw some of our best inspiration while thumbing through our favourite childhood books…  These quotes made us feel happy, they made us inspired, and they kept us motivated our 5-year-old selves motivated when we were learning how to read.  We loved these quotes, and we still do, and today we wanted to share them with you. So enjoy a lazy afternoon in the sunshine, or a cup of warm milk before bed as you share these valuable thoughts with your kids, grandkids or kids at heart.

"You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself anywhere you choose." -Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go

"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think" - A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye." -Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

"Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.” -Shel Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends

"A person's a person, no matter how small." - Dr. Seuss, Horton Hears a Who!

"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." -Road Dahl, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

These favourite quotes are tried and true, they can leave an impact on your kids, and on you too.

5 motivating quotes for language learning

Learning a new language can be exciting and fun, but there’s no doubt that there will be certain days when you need some extra motivation to get you going. We asked the members of our team for some of their favourite quotes about the power of learning a new language and we wanted to share them with you. If you have any quotes we should include tweet us @penyopal.

  1. “The limits of my language, mean the limits of my world” - Ludwig Wittgenstein

  2. “Who are we without our words?” - Melina Marchetta

  3. “It’s not that language grows out of consciousness, if you haven’t got language, you can’t be conscious.” -Alan Moore

  4. “Language, she said, was just our way to explain away the wonder and glory of the world.” - Chuck Palahniuk

  5. “No two languages are ever sufficiently similar to be considered as representing the same social reality. The worlds in which different societies live are distinct worlds, not merely the same world with different labels attached.” -Amy Tan

Good luck with the journey! Every new word you learn, every sentence you are able to speak, lets you see a new perspective of the world. The Penyo Pal team are also trying to learn second or third or fourth languages as well – we’ll continue posting our tips!
